Growing up, Oedipus did not know he was not the son of Polybus. When he heard someone say that he was not the son of Polybus that did not sit well with him so he set out to find out the truth about where he came from and who his parents were. The Oracle at Delphi tells Oedipus of his undeniable fate so he does whatever he can do to avoid this prophecy. He vows to stay away from what he thinks are his real parents until they are deceased...
