These rootkits are designed to not only hide on users systems, but always gather information on the user and send it home. It connects to ‘connected.sonymusic.com’ and sends the users IP, date, album and other information back to Sony [2]. This is installed on the user’s computer without their consent which is illegal under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) and anti-spyware laws [3] [4]. This software is also not mentioned in the EULA.
