They were Vincenzo Bellini and Gaetano Donizetti. These two composers picked up where Rossini left off with the advancing opera into more of a musical drama. It is with these two composers that you have the action in the operas not confined to a recitative, but instead you have the action spread though out the recitatives, duets, arias, and choruses...
