The alliteration of wild and wondering gives us the feeling of being in Louisa’s wondering mind and makes us feel sorry for her. Dickens uses this effect to get his point across that there was another thing needful in 19th Century England, love! Gradgrind is clearly deceiving Louisa, when he wants her to marry Bounderby for the logical reason that she has had no other offers of marriage so it would be in her best interest...
