Education has been essential to achieving equity for women. Historically, women were largely excluded or were offered minimal opportunities in education and society. However, particularly in recent decades, some women have achieved enormous gains. These include unparalleled access to education and training, finance, improved childcare provisions and work and family arrangements, anti-discrimination legislation, the removal of restrictive barriers and increasing professionalization of many traditionally ‘women’s jobs’
